Service Details
Penny Martin, 47, passed away at her home May 23, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.
Penny was born January 28, 1964 in Des Moines. She especially enjoyed spending all of her free time with her new grandson Caleb and good friends.
Penny is survived by her children, Jerry Martin III and Jenny (D.J.) Kain; grandson, Caleb Kain; siblings, Mike (Dee) Loving, Dan (Glenda) Loving, Rick (Kerry) Loving, Katherine Loving and Brenda (Jim) Todd; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Shirley (Reed) Loving and her soul mate and love of her life, husband Jerry Martin II.

I only knew Penny a very short time (about 6 years)as she was our "Lady at the Grill" at Nationwide Insurance. She was always so very sweet and had a smile on her face every day. God is blessed by her presence now. May He comfort you and yours during this time of sorrow. I wrote a poem in memory of Penny.
Lady at the grill
She stood there waiting with bright eyes smiling,
And with a clear voice asked can I get you anything?
I knew wed be friends right from the very start,
The lady at the grill had a super real heart.
Everyday was a blessing to see her sweet smile,
And although Ive known her only a short while.
I will miss her being there, and greeting me kindly,
Not like so many others that do it so blindly.
But with great compassion, concern and grace,
Oh yes she will be missed by all in this place.
Its hard to know what words to say,
We all express sadness in such different ways.
I know her best friend, Diane, will miss her much,
And many here, their hearts she so touched.
Well say so long for now with tears in our eyes,
Then well see her again some day in the sky.
Dear Penny, were all so heart broken and yet,
We thank you so deeply for the time that you spent.
To greet us each day with a smile on your face,
And be so patient, your memory will never fade.

I worked at Nationwide and Penny always made my day better. The pain of her loss runs deep as so many people loved her. She certainly leaves a legacy of love and happiness with all who knew her.
