Jerry Ryun, 59, passed away at his home May 21, 2011. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Jerry was born November 27, 1951, in Des Moines to Logan and Marilyn (Speck) Ryun. He worked as an electrician for Keystone, Keith Electric and 3E. Jerry was a member of IBEW Local 347. He enjoyed reading, drawing and working with stained glass, but Jerry’s greatest joy in life was his grandson, Franklin.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Wendy (Gene) Arch; mother, Marilyn Ryun; brothers, Steven (Marie) Ryun and Richard (Kelly) Ryun; and his grandson, Franklin Arch. He was preceded in death by his father, Logan and his grandparents.

Although it has been 30 years since I talked to Jerry, we were good friend at Scott School & at Tech.
I'm saddened to hear of his passing. Jerry was a great guy, good friend, and quite a character. I only found out about Jerry's passing late last night from Vern Baysinger.
(Since I now live in Jeff City, MO, most of the time, I'm not informed about people from the "old" Scott neighborhood until well after. I wish I had known earlier.)
What happened? I know he smoked a lot from an early age.
I remember Jerry the artist (sketcher) / reader of Mad Magazine - consistent with his sense of humor / later Jerry the mechanic - "wrenching" his car. (He also read a lot of "real" books in his youth. I assume that continued.)
I've reminised about my long-past youth, the "old" neighborhood, & Jerry's part of a lot of fond memories every since I heard. Again, it had to beleive he is gone. His memory only brings back good times - all the way from grade school to high school- at leasts in the resesses of my mind. My condolences.

So sorry for your loss, Wendy. I remember your dad as always being willing to come to our aid when we had problems at our college houses (and there were a lot of problems). I also remember thinking that he seemed quiet, but when he had something to say to us (the roomies), it was usually insightful or funny. He would usually have some choice words to say about our landlords, and I always got a kick out of that! Even though I didn't know him that well, it was clear that he had a good heart and cared a lot about his daughter. May he rest in peace, and may God bring comfort to you and your family.
