Wilma Marchant, 80, passed away May 21, 2011, at Genesis Senior Living Center. She was born February 18, 1931, in Iowa. She worked for Des Moines Postal Credit Union until her retirement in 1993. Wilma enjoyed watching sprint car racing, Chicago Cubs baseball, and attending Iowa Cubs baseball games. She particularly loved spending time with her family and extended family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Barry Lee, Garry (Sandy), and Gene (Debbie K.) Marchant; daughter-in-law, Debbie D.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; son, Dennis; and grandson, Jon.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a funeral service at 12 p.m., on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Wilma.
