Darlene Roiland

Darlene I. Roiland, 77, passed away May 20, 2011, at Bright Kavanagh House.

Darlene was born May 16, 1934, in Osakis, Minnesota, to Walter and Esther Tanberg. She moved to Des Moines in 1960. Darlene was a waitress at the Hilltop Restaurant until her retirement in 2004, after 35 years of service. She also worked at the Walgreens on E. Euclid for 10 years. Darlene enjoyed bowling and polka dancing, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.

Darlene is survived by her children, Mike (Jean) Roiland, Marcy (Hayden) Boggs, and Tammy (Dave) Gregory; brother, Arlo Tanberg; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; two brothers; and her daughter, Diane.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Meredith Drive Reformed Church, 5128 Meredith Drive, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
