Curtis Alan Newsom, 63, passed away at his home on May 17, 2011.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2011, at the funeral home.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Gloria Newsom; son, Andrew Newsom; daughters, Deanna (Mark) Funaro and Jennifer (Bob) Tilkes; grandchildren, Shelby Tilkes, Amber Newsom, Elizabeth Funaro, Robert Tilkes, Amanda Tilkes and Aiden Newsom; and brothers, Conrad “Fritz” Newsom and Don Newsom. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and Ray Newsom; and brother, Gary Newsom.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Curtis.

I am so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful and caring man...one of my fondest memories of Curtis will be when he would always stop by to drop me off some cigarettes and say "Just in case the boy is being an ass and didn't buy you any" because his son does not smoke and hates that I do but Curtis would always think of me and that made me feel special.
I am very saddened that my son Aiden Alan Newson who shall have the privelage of carrying on the Newsom name will not have the pleasure of all of his grandfather's wisdom first hand but I will do my best to instill his beliefs in my son so he can look down with pride as his grandson grows to be a man.
I will miss you dearly and you have left a very special impression upon my heart.

I am sorry for another loss to the Newsom family. Growing up next door to the Newsom's was so much fun for me as a kid. I remember when Curt's pet monkey escaped it was a major neighborhood event, and the go carts, there was never a dull moment. Curt was closer to my age so I tried to hang around him and his friends back then. My condolences to all.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Best wishes to the entire family. Although our families have not been as close for many years now, the bond of growing up together as close as we were lasts through the years.
