John Gutuskie

John Paul Gutuskie, 91, died Monday, May 16, 2011, at Mitchellville Care Center. He was born December 23, 1919, to Claude and Katie Gutuskie in Krebs, Oklahoma.

John served in the Air Force during WWII, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 682 in Altoona. He retired from Caldwell & Hartung after many years of service as a truck driver. John was an avid Cubs fan.

John is survived by his wife of 69 years, Darlene; children, Ronald (Mary) Gutuskie and Irene Howard; grandchildren, Paula (Jeff Call) Edwards, Jennifer (Collin) Vaughn, and Janna (Tony) Miller; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with burial to follow at the Altoona Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
