Elizabeth Jane Kalar Clouse, 79, passed away at her home May 15, 2011, from Alzheimer’s

Elizabeth was born October 1, 1931, to James and Ada (Brown) Heathcote in Des Moines. She was a daycare provider and owned Little Folks Childcare for 40 years.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Belinda Dunegan, Joyce Kalar, Rebecca Sly, and Merlin Kalar, Jr.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Geneva Taber, Gloria Reynolds, Jim Heathcote, Bob Heathcote, Bill Heathcote, and Etta Mae Kimmel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Kalar, Sr.; infant daughter, Patricia Kalar; and brothers, Jack and Charles Heathcote.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
