Lonny Docken

Lonny was born on October 4, 1949, in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He passed away on May 12, 2011. He was raised on the south side of Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1967. After graduation he served four years in the U.S. Air Force.

Lonny played Little League baseball, enjoyed many fishing trips to Minnesota, and followed NASCAR. He especially liked to attend U.S. National Drag Racing events in Indiana with his brother, Larry, and his many friends. He was a loyal Iowa Hawkeye fan. One of his other special loves was cats, with “Snowball” being his favorite buddy.

Those left behind to honor his memory are his mother, Donna Docken; brother, Larry (Sandy) Docken; sisters, Vicki (Gary) Theobald, Cindy (Amir) Ghalibaf, and Karan (Chip) Sloan; nephews, Christopher Theobald and Michael Ghalibaf; nieces, Stephanie Theobald, Erin (Mike) Medeiros, Marissa Ghalibaf, Ashley Sloan, and Tricia (Jason) Byers; and great nieces Madilyn Theobald and Sloan Medeiros.

Lonny was preceded in death by his father, Roland (Bud) Dockin and long-time companion, Mary Morris.

As little Madilyn would always say, “I will see you later. Quit It Man!”
