Elizabeth Merritt

Elizabeth H. Merritt, 94, died Sunday, April 8, 2007 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A memorial service will be held 1p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Our Lady of Peace Chapel, Bishop Drumm Care Center, 5815 Winwood Drive, Johnston.
Elizabeth was born December 12, 1912 to Stephen and Helen Foxwell in Elgin, Iowa. Elizabeth was an accomplished poet and artist, devoted Christian, and a loving wife and mother.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Stephen merit of Franklin, NC, Marlene “Francy” Schultz of Des Moines, and Rose Anne, and her husband Bill McAtee of West Des Moines; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Hugh Merritt; son, Charles Merritt, who died in Vietnam in 1969; 2 sisters; and 1 brother.
Memorial contributions may be given to Bishop Drumm Care Center or Mercy Hospice Johnston.
Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway is handling arrangements.
