Edward Harry Walker II, born August 27, 1927, passed peacefully from this world on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007. Ed was a veteran’s veteran with vast knowledge of the needs of veterans having served world wide for 22+ years in the Army, retiring as a top sergeant.
In addition to his work in the military, Ed retired from Massey Fergusson and Universal Carloading. He was a life mentor of the AM Vets Post 2, the VFW and the American Legion. Additionally, he was a member of the Shriners, Masonic Lodge and Consistory.
Ed was preceded in death by his son, Curtis D. Walker in 2001. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rosa; sons, Rickey Dale of Knoxville, IA and Edward III and wife Lorena of Mesquite, NV; brother, Russell and his wife, Betty of Des Moines; sister, Beverly Render of Ft. Myer, FL; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His presence will be sorely missed.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2007 at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. has been entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
