Nola N. Lowe, 92, a resident of Sunny View Care Center, Ankeny, Iowa, for the past ten years went to meet Jesus Easter morning. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Pleasant Plains Cemetery in Pleasant Plains, Illinois.
She was born in Big Clifty, Kentucky, August 12, 1914, the daughter of Hettie Johnson Richardson and Lemuel Richardson. Nola married Clyde Lowe of Hardin County, Ky, March 11, 1931. They lived in Springfield, Illinois for many years and then lived in Sarasota, Florida for 27 years until returning to the Midwest in 1992. Mr. Lowe preceded her in death in June of 1995.
Nola is most known for her “angel biscuits” and chocolate pie. She could disappear into the kitchen and produce a feast fit for a king with just no effort at all. She was an accomplished seamstress, working in that profession for 25 years. Nola loved to read, especially her Bible, doing crafts and letter writing. She rarely missed sending birthday or anniversary cards. She was a member of Hope Church of the Nazarene in Ankeny.
Nola will be missed by her two daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Nita “Lynn”) Chamberlin of Fort Madison, Iowa and Mrs. Keith (Patricia) Riggins and son-in-law, Dr. Keith Riggins of Ankeny, Iowa. One son, Kenneth Lowe, one sister and three brothers preceded her in death. She was the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 6 great, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Pleasant Plains, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Church of the Nazarene of Ankeny.
