Mina A. (Wicker) Blood, 96, was born October 6, 1914, in Vandalia, Iowa, to Roy and Altha Wicker, and passed away April 30, 2011, in Waterford, Michigan.

After their mother died, Mina, her sister Thelma, and her brother Raymond were raised by their Aunt Irma and Uncle J.J. McCoy. Mina graduated from Runnells High School, and then earned her teaching certificate at Iowa State Teacher's College. She began her teaching career at a one-room country school before she married Glenn L. Blood and settled down in Ivy, Iowa, where the couple ran the Ivy General Store for more than 40 years.

Mina resumed her teaching career, earned her degree from Drake University, and served as reading consultant for both Runnells and Southeast Polk Schools. Mina was active in both her church and her community, while loving to grow beautiful flowers, cook, and spoil her grandchildren.

Mina is survived by her daughter Jane Kettinger (Jim) of Highland, Michigan; two grandchildren Jill Dromazos of Dexter, Michigan, and Jon Kettinger of Phoenix, Arizona; three great-grandchildren; three sisters; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, aunt and uncle, husband, one sister, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at Centennial United Methodist Church, Ivy, Iowa, on Friday, May 6, 2011, at 11:00 am, with interment at Lowman Cemetery, Runnells Iowa. Visitation will be at 10:00 am prior to the funeral, at the church.
