Charles W. “Chuck” Hensley passed away peacefully on April 27, 2011, at Taylor House Hospice.

Chuck was born March 11, 1923, in Des Moines, Iowa to Charles and Olive (Johnson) Hensley. He was an East High School alumnus and life-long resident of Des Moines. Chuck proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater before his discharge in 1945. He was a salesman for Electrical Engineering & Equipment Co. for 40 years before his retirement in 1988.

During his life Chuck was an avid duck hunter, skeet shooter, lover of Big Band music and a lifelong golfer-especially in retirement. One of his golf highlights was a hole-in-one at Willow Creek golf course in 2002. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the USGA and Pioneer Gun Club. He was also a Mason.

Chuck is survived by his wife Jean of 65 years; son Stephen (Christine) Hensley; daughters Jane (Steve) Ivanovich and Karen (Pete) Anderson; grandchildren, Jenny Murphy, Jon Ivanovich, Sam Anderson and Kate Anderson as well as three great-grandchildren.

Per his request, his body has been cremated and a private service will be held at a later date.
