Michael Gates

Michael Josef Gates, 42, of Des Moines passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Friday, April 6, 2007 . There will be a visitation held on Wednesday, April 11 from 5-8pm with a 7pm prayer service at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. 5400 S.W. 9th Street. The funeral will be at 12:00pm at Christ The King Catholic Church on Thursday, April 12. Michael will be cremated following the funeral service.
Michael was born on August 5, 1964 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Charles and Mary Gates. He graduated in 1982 from Des Moines Tech in the Commercial Art program. Michael had a great passion for art and a deep love for his children.
Michael is survived by: Son - Chad Gates (Amber Zirkle) and Granddaughter Ava Rose Gates. Daughter - Andrea Gates (Jesse Wood). Mother - Mary Gates. Sisters - Kathy Gates (Tim Schofield), and Pattie (Pat) Fraizer. Former Wife - Shelly (Gates) Street, and many nieces and nephews. Michael is preceded in death by his father Charles Gates. Memorial Contributions may be given to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
