Pat Hodina, 61, passed away April 25, 2011. She was born March 8, 1950 in Des Moines. Pat proudly worked as a consultant at the Mercy Cancer Center in Des Moines.
Pat is survived by her children, Tammy (Jeff) Snell and Brian Pottorff II; grandchildren, Nicole, Alivia, Blake, Cole, Bridgit and Shane; mother, Norma Smith; father, Verl McDaniel; sisters, Carol (Ivan) Persin, Deb (Richard) Petty, Valerie (Bob) Burgett, Terry McAlpine and Debbie Shannon; brothers, Mike (Jeannine) McDaniel and Rod (Debra) Smith; dear friend, Tim Hodina; and many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 N.W. 60th Ave. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Cancer Center, 411 Laurel St., Ste. 1380, Des Moines, IA 50314-3095 honoring the memory of Pat.

We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you during this sad time. Your mom and I are cousins. My family and I live in Arkansas. I hadn't seen her for many years until the family reunion. I'm so glad that I was able to visit with her then. We had a lot of fun when I would come from Sioux City in the summer and spend time with your mom, Mike, Darrell and Karla. I wish I lived closer, so that I could have seen her more often as she was a Great person. I would have liked to get to know the two of you as well. Take care of your selves and I will be with you in spirit tonight and tomorrow.

My heart goes out to the family and I am sending prayers too all. Pat was a good person and love to visit and watch the Cubs on TV or just listing to them. I know a Angel came down from Heaven and wrapped her wings around her and took her right up to Heavens Gates and they opened and let Pat right in. Pat is smiling down at everyone and with no pain and no sorrow . Pat was so proud of her family and her grandchildren they gave her the will to live has long as she could ! We will miss her rest in peace Pat God be with you !
