Betty Beckman

Betty J. Beckman, 88, passed away Friday evening at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, April 29, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home.

Betty was born April 19, 1923, in Des Moines, to Mable and Eric Magnuson. She graduated from East High School in 1941. She worked for the Des Moines Public Schools in the cafeteria. Later she was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Capitol Hill Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, and she loved being with her family.

Betty is survived by her son, Dennis (Denise) Beckman and their children, Katie and Michael; her son Tom (Kathy) Beckman and their children, Aaron, Adam, Matthew, Timothy and Elizabeth, and six great-grandchildren; by her daughter Sharon Beckman, and her children, Billy Charles and Scott Alan Youngquist, and six great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Raymond.
