Service Details
James Timmerman, 72, went to be with his Lord on Friday, at Bright Kavanagh Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, SW 14th and Porter. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. A service and burial will be held in Waterloo also.
Jim was born April 14, 1939, in Waterloo, to Elmer and Dorothy Timmerman. He worked for 30 years at RR Donnelly, from where he retired in 1995. Following that he worked at Wesley Acres for several years.
He enjoyed tinkering in his garage. His greatest loves were his 2 grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Pamela Perry of Des Moines; his sons, Jeff Timmerman of Menlo and Mark Timmerman of West Des Moines; his sisters, Julie Frey of Dike and Susan (John) Lund of Waterloo; his two grandsons, Matthew Scott Perry and Steven Andrew Perry; a niece and nephew.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Jim’s family.

My sincere condolences to the family of Jim Timmerman...
I had the pleasure of meeting Jim at church. He was a kind man with a wonderful smile & I'm glad I was given the opportunity to meet him.
I would like to share this story ....
Jim brought brownies to church for a pot luck & he asked me if I thought the brownies would be good even though he only used 1 egg when the box said to use 2, but he put extra frosting on them. I told him that they would be perfect! -extra frosting definitely made up for it :)
May God give you peace during this difficult time.
Jim is home & he is at peace now.

To my Grandfather Jim Timmerman:
The greatest and strongest man I have ever known.
When I was small and not to tall you were so special to me. Your voice was deep your eyes so sweet. You were always there. We were quite a pair. You taught me of life and taught me of Christ. Now I have grown. I'm on my own... And as I look back to see how things have changed nothing seems the same But, You are still so special to me.
Love you grandpa. I will miss you everyday for the rest of my life.
