Lawrence E. “Larry” Otto, 83, died April 21, 2011, at the Carlisle Care Center.

Larry was born July 18, 1927, in Des Moines to Roy and Goldie (Hall) Otto. He worked as a drywall contractor for many years doing stucco and plaster work. Larry was a long-time member of Southtown Pentecostal Assembly of God, where he was a song leader for many years. Larry enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vera “Pat” Louise Otto; children, Larry Tate, Jackie Schofield, Gracia Bennett, Kenny Lee Schofield, Wilma Schofield and Shawna (Wayne) McBride; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Victor Otto and Edward (Peggy) Otto; sisters, Betty Mauk, Margaret (Leon) Epps and RoseMary Fenton; and a host of other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will occur at Avon Cemetery.
