Timothy Roberts, 60, died April 20, 2011, at Bright Kavanagh Hospice House following a prolonged fight with renal cancer. He was born January 28, 1951, in Des Moines to Danford and Kathryn (Larson) Roberts.
In 1969, Tim graduated from Southeast Polk High School. He married Diane (Nichols) Byers on August 29, 1986.
Tim was a proud member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 33 for 32 years and was last employed as a project manager at Wolin Mechanical, retiring in 2006. He was a member of Heartland Assembly of God Church. Tim was an avid golfer, and in 2009 he hit a hole-in-one.
Tim is survived by his wife, Diane; sons, Christopher Roberts of Alabaster, Alabama, and Daniel Roberts of Altoona; stepson, Mark Byers; stepdaughter, Julie (Jonathan) Lee; and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Leabo and Gunnar Lee, all of Altoona. Other survivors include his father, Danford (Edith) Roberts of Harrison, Arkansas; and siblings, Steven (Phyllis) Roberts and Susan Moore, both of Texas. Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Moore.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 25, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Heartland Assembly of God Church, 1212 NW 36th Street, Ankeny. Private burial will follow at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Heartland Assembly of God Church in loving memory of Tim.

Wanting to send my heartfelt sympathy to Tim's family. Tim and his family lived beside my folks (Al & V Rehor) and I, in Altoona as we were growing up, and we graduated from SEP together in 1969. I was really sorry to hear this news about Tim. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To Tim's family, In sadness we send this note from Omaha, NE. I am a first cousin living in Omaha, NE on the Larson side and was able to see Tim at his mother's funeral in Huxley. Tim was part of the Russ Moore family in Altoona area, I am four years younger than Tim. I still remember holidays at his home and all the fun games with first cousins and good food. May our Risen Saviour hold you in his care. May each of us now believe in the Risen Saviour, Jesus . We place our cares in Christ!

I was sorry to hear of Tim's death. He was a fun golf buddy--one of the few that didn't cheat. He will be missed! May his golf in heaven be all eagles!

Iam so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember how much fun you both had with your bikes and trips you made to South Dakota. Those times make wonderful memories to enjoy later when your pain subsides. Take care and know the Lord is still in control even at the sad times in our lives.
