Gilberta Davis

Gilberta Davis, 99, passed away April 21, 2011, at Taylor House Hospice.

Gilberta was born September 5, 1911, to Alfred and Emma Belle Shaw. She was a lifelong resident of Des Moines, and married Rolland Davis on January 25, 1930. Gilberta was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Eastern Star, and the White Shrine. She will be remembered as a true animal lover.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (William) Steffen; grandsons, Fredrick Steffen, William (Sandy) Steffen, Daniel (Carol) Steffen and Curtis Steffen; great-grandchildren; Stacy, Jason, Kimberly, Ricky and Chrissy; and great-great-grandchildren, Luke, Joey, C.J., Lilly and Hunter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rolland Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
