Richard M. Collins

Richard Collins, age 73, passed away, Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 23, at 2:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, under the direction of Pastor Neil Cross. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Born April 11, 1938, Richard Merle Collins was the son of Cecil and Daisy (Cunningham) Collins. He grew up and attended high school at Guthrie Center Community School. After graduation, Richard served in the United States Navy from July 1956 until June 1960, aboard the USS Sperry.

Richard loved playing board games and going to the park with his grandchildren. He was very generous and family oriented person.

Survivors include his sons; Randy Collins of Peoria, Arizona, Rod Collins of Urbandale, Iowa, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; and eight siblings.
