Alvin J. Richardson II

Alvin “Pepe” J. Richardson, 59, passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 20, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Al was born September 13, 1951 to Alvin J. and Susie L. (Williams) Richardson in Des Moines. He was educated in the Des Moines Public School System; attending, Bird Elementary, Callanan Jr. High and graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1969. Al also received his Business Degree from William Penn University, graduating Cum Laude in 2002.

Al worked for Deere Credit Services in Johnston, IA from September 1988 until taking early retirement on April 30, 2010. He enjoyed all types of sports, listening to music, watching movies and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

Al is survived by his wife of 37 years, Alice G. Richardson; sons, Brian L. (Rhonda) Calderon, Drew A. Richardson, Alvin J. (Adrianne) Richardson III and Quintin A. Richardson, all of Des Moines; brothers, Reginald R. (Teri) Richardson of Phoenix, AZ, Gerald B. Richardson of San Francisco, CA, Lamont E. Richardson of Des Moines and Carlos A. (Teresa) Richardson of Union City, CA; aunts, Winifred Richardson-Flowers of Des Moines and Ruby (Howard) Carr of Cincinatti OH; 14 grandkids; and a host of nieces nephews, in-laws and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Ari Jai Richardson.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the staff at Mercy Medical Center and the Rehabilitation Center of Des Moines.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the funeral home.
