Service Details
John Joseph Kubis, 80, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
John was born on April 8, 1931 to Anna and John Kubis in Chicago, IL. He joined the Marines during the Korean War and then worked in the sales industry. John was President of the Komarek Elementary school board, Commander of American Legion Post 626 in Broadview, IL and was a Broadview Village Trustee.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Marlene; son, Jeffrey; daughter, Donna and son-in-law, Alan Tweeten; grandchildren, Nicholas, Benjamin, Maxwell and Ella; step-granddaughter, Carlie Tweeten; nieces, Debra, Dawn, Dyan and Renee; nephew, Brian; and his sister, Mary Ann (Wally) Dziewnski. John was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew James.

Dear Aunt Marlene, Donna and Jeff,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We were very sad to hear the news.
We will love and miss Uncle John. I am so glad you both were able to visit us a few years ago. We had so much fun with you both that weekend.
We hope we get to see you when you come to Orland this summer.

I was so sorry to read about your Dad's passing.
He must have been quite a guy, if his daughter was anything like him.
I know he was very proud of his daughter and her accomplishments, both at work and at home.

My Dearest Aunt Marlene, Jeff & Donna...I write with tears in my eyes and emptiness in my heart for the loss of your blessed husband and father. Although time and space seperate us...please know your are thought of always and held with love in my heart. I trust uncle John is at peace...my first thought was...where does the time go.
