Marilynn Leonard, 77, was born December 28, 1933, in Newcastle, Wyoming, the daughter of Dale and Ferne (Sydnes) Fenner. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Bright Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

She was a life-long Lutheran and was a member of the Eastern Polk Quilters Guild. Marilynn was a volunteer and foster grandparent at Woodward State Hospital for over 25 years.

Marilynn is survived by her loving husband of 58 years; Bob; children, Rob (Annie) Leonard, Stephanie (Shorty) Brown, and Nancy (Rodney) Green; grandchildren, Jessica (Paul) Keller, Greg (Jenna) Roorda, Asa Leonard, and Johanna Leonard; great-grandchildren, Max, Mason, Sydney, Sam, and Jackson; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Babe (Jerry) Lovell. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, David and Johnny Dale Fenner.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2011, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Lincoln Cemetery in Polk City. Family will greet visitors from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bright Kavanagh Hospice House, or John Stoddard Cancer Center, in loving memory of Marilynn.
