Margaret “Peg” Rinehart, 88, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines. A funeral mass will be on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Monday, April 18, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway from 4 to 7 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m.
Peg was born on April 7, 1923, in Melrose, IA, to Frances and William Callahan. In 1942, she married Richard Rinehart. During WWII they worked in the shipyards in Oregon. Later they moved to Des Moines where they owned and operated Rinehart Construction. Peg was extremely witty and endearing. She loved to read, garden and bake.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Rick (Mary) Rinehart, Bobbie Krantz, Peggy Mohan, Kelly (Lynne) Rinehart, John Rinehart, Kevin Rinehart, Susan (Robert) Bledsoe, Daniel (Becky) Rinehart, Sandy (Jim) Beem, and Robin Renda; 32 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Marlene Scartozzi. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; daughter, Jolene Forsyth; 4 grandchildren; and 7 siblings.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

My heart goes out to you all. You have all been in my thoughts over the years and I have such fond memories of the Rinehart home and especially Peg, who I considered like my second Mom (and I'm sure I caused her some grief in the teen years with Sue and Sandy:) I loved her dearly and miss you all! Dear Rinehart Family,
Our deepest condolences to you! Loved Aunt Peg and appreciated her patience and humor. Mom and dad spent many great times with your parents, racing to see who could have the most children. Peg won, but not by much. Dad treasured his sister, Peg, as we all did. Now they meet again!

Peggy,
I was only two years old when you married my brother Richard. That was his lucky day,
(I can't speak for you.) I never knew life without you in it. It was always exciting
coming to your house because there was always so much going on and when you came to
Mom & Ray's we had so much fun. You were always so young no matter your age and that's
the way I will remember you, not the later years. I'll never know how in the world you
took care of such a big family but you did it and with your easy-going style you made it
seem like anybody could do it. Now, I'm not too religious, but if ever there was an Angel,
it's you and I do hope we meet again so we can laugh and read some of those old Mike Hammer
novels together. What a classy dame you are. I will love you and miss you and remember
you forever.

Dear Rinehart Family; There are many, many wonderful childhood memories of
staying at your parents home. I always wanted to be a "Rinehart", because it seemed as
though your family had more fun. I had a crush on the Rinehart boys and wanted to look
like the Rinehart girls. Ha, ha! Thanks to your wonderful parents and to you for making
me feel loved and special. I can imagine that Uncle Dick and Aunt Peg are dancing a jig
and holding hands with wonderful dreamy smiles. Love to you all! God bless.
