Gerard E. "Jerry" Collins

Gerard E. “Jerry” Collins, 54, passed away April 13, 2011 at the Altoona Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a courageous battle with CNS vasculitis. He was born in Des Moines on December 17, 1956 to John and Mary Ellen Collins.

Jerry is survived by his mother, Mary Ellen; brother, John (Blanca) Collins; sister, Catherine Collins; and his hero, nephew Michael. He was preceded in death by his father, John.

In honor of his wishes, no services are planned and Jerry’s body has been donated to Des Moines University so that others may benefit through medical research, training and education.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Jerry.
