Betty Grossnickle, 83, passed away April 13, 2011, at Parkridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Betty was born June 14, 1927, in Des Moines to Frank and Emma (Scott) Harmon, Sr. She attended East High School, and was united in marriage to Donald Grossnickle. Betty began working for AT&T as an operator in 1958, and retired as a collection agent in 1981. She was a member of Easton Place United Methodist Church. Betty enjoyed sewing, cooking and square dancing. After retirement, she and Donald loved spending time fishing at their lake home on Lake Panorama.

Betty is survived by her brother, Larry (Phyllis) Harmon of Pleasant Hill; sister-in-law, Janet Harmon of Berwick, Iowa; step-grandson, John Grossnickle, Jr.; step-great-granddaughter, Ashton Grossnickle both of Prescott, Iowa; step-daughter-in-law of Logan, Utah, Peggy Grossnickle; and many loving nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2002; her parents; step-son, John Grossnickle, Sr.; and brothers, Frank, Bob and Ron Harmon.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2010, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
