Service Details

Mother Maggie Jordan, age 93, went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2011. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, and Funeral services for her will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 15, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Mother Jordan gave her heart to the Lord at an early age. She united with Learning of the Lord Revival Ministries, Inc., Church of God in Christ in 1992 after relocating in Des Moines, IA, from Chicago, IL. She was the first Church Mother of the ministry. She served in this position for over 18 years. If you wanted to get her stirred up, just say something against her church or her pastor. That would get you a real good tongue lashing!

Mother Jordan was a strong supporter of her church. She loved her pastor and considered her church family and pastor’s personal family as her extended family. As much as she loved her pastor, her great love of the church was Elder Mose. She would always say, “that’s my child!” She was the reason many of her family attended services and united with the ministry. She was truly concerned about the work of the Lord.

The children of the church were the delight of Mother Jordan. She loved to hear them sing! All of them considered her their grandmother and would listen to her when they would not obey anyone else. All we had to say is we are going to tell Mother Jordan, and miraculously their behavior would improve.

Along with her family, her church family has suffered a great loss; and the ministry will really never be the same. We will always remember the teachings and love of Mother Maggie Jordan and will follow her example forever.

Mother Jordan is survived by her daughters, Willie (J.D.) Chandler, Mary Frances Savage, Leona Barron; 31 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, her church family, nieces, nephews, other close family members and many, many friends.

Mother was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Angie Lillie Jordan-Ollie; two sons, Mac Jordan and C.C. Jordan; and seven grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Mother Maggie Jordan Memorial Fund.

Mother Maggie Jordan IS greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
