Jack B. Montgomery

Jack B. Montgomery, 90, passed away at his home April 7, 2011.

Jack was born October 16, 1920, and had lived in the Des Moines area all of his life. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 390 Inf Reg, 98th Inf. Division. Jack retired from Pittsburg-Des Moines Steel Co .in 1985, with over 40 years of service. He was a snow bird, enjoyed camping and was also a hooter, (metal scraper).

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret; son, Michael (Charlene) Montgomery; sister, Marian Geherk; brother, Charles Montgomery; grandchildren, Theresa Reiter of Fort Madison, David Kinney of Ankeny, Lisa (Robb) Bussan of Prairie City and Becky (Bill) Matzdorff of Ankeny and great-grandchildren, Jonathan Montgomery, Daniel Reiter, Michael Reiter, Savanna Reiter, Mackenzie Bussan and Mark Bussan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Duane Montgomery.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
