Florence Walsh

Florence M. (Hanson) Walsh, 96, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Regency Care Center in Norwalk. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 6th at Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Florence’s family will greet friends Friday from noon to service time.
Florence was born January 26, 1911 in Cedar Rapids to Roy and Lillie McMurray. She attended Lincoln High and her class decided the School Colors. She worked for Northwestern Bell for 30 years before retiring in 1973. She was active in the Telephone Pioneers. Florence accepted Jesus as her savior as a young woman. She was a member of Indianola Heights Evangelical Free Church and had also attended Fellowship Baptist Church. Florence enjoyed Jumble Puzzles and playing the organ.
Florence is survived by her son, Lee (Jo) Hanson; her daughter, Shirley (John) Johnson; her stepson, Jack Walsh; her 5 grandchildern, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; her brother, Roy McMurray; her 2 sisters-in-law, Helen McMurray and Dorothy McBride.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Clifford McMurray and Harold McMurray; her grandchildren, Mark Hanson, Kevin and Karen Johnson; her first husband, Joseph “Richard” Hanson and her second husband, Philip Walsh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
