Anna Marie Williams
March 18, 2011
Anna Marie Williams, age 20 of Carlisle, went home to be with the Lord Friday March 18th, 2011.
A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2011, at Willow Creek Baptist Church, 720 Army Post Rd., West Des Moines, IA. A service will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the church.
Anna Marie Williams went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 18th, enroute to support the UNI Women’s basketball team with the UNI pep band for the NCAA tournament. Anna loved life, her family, friends, and her joy was contagious to those around her. She loved singing with her sisters and cousins, playing her trombone, and pounding on her drums. She was always game for any sport and was determined to win. Anna loved her Lord and was strong in her faith, ready to share Jesus with anyone. She was a graduate of Carlisle High School and was enrolled at UNI studying psychology. “Anna Banana” was very loyal to her teams including the Carlisle Wildcats, UNI Panthers, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
She is survived by her parents, Karl and Kristy Williams; siblings, Jessica, Becca, and Jacob; Grandparents Vonda Lee Williams of Colfax and George and Mary Lou Close of Des Moines; Aunts and Uncles, Kevin (BJ) Williams of Gladbrook, Vana (Monty) Beals of Colfax, Pam Close of Columbia, Mo., Linda (Jim) Mason, Dianne (Tony) Merrill of Des Moines; Cousins, Shannon Williams, Seth (wife, Kristen and daughter, Sydney) Williams, Sean (Heidi) Williams, Danae and Danielle Beals, Jason (Julie) Mason, Blake Arney, Tiffany Merrill and two more on the way.
Anna was preceded in death by her Grandparents: Joanne Close, Walter Williams, and Cousin Matthew Mason.

I'm so very sorry that Anna is gone, but I'm so glad I got to meet her. We only met a few months ago, but we worked together as tutors at the Academic Learning Center. Her vivaciousness and cheerfulness were contagious, and she routinely made me and others laugh by just being herself.
Please know that she was well loved by many on campus, and her absence will be felt by us.
She was and will continue to be one of my favorite people, and I feel very blessed to have known her, if only for a short time.

Our hearts are broken for you upon reading Anna's obituary. Our daughter has been in the ISU pep band for the women's BB team for 4 years. When we read that your daughter was on her way to UNI to join the pep band for the UNI women we were just crushed by the pain you must be experiencing because we could relate the experience of having a daughter in that situation. We offered a prayer petition at our Sunday prayer service for you that God is with you as a healing presence for your hearts. All our blessings and peaceful compassion are with you.

Anna was such a joy to be around in pep band, and I know she will be remembered well. She stayed in my hotel room for the NCAA tournament last year in Oklahoma City, and we had some great memories. This news is devastating, but I have hope that she is rejoicing with our Savior in heaven right now, and God has a great plan to glorify Him through her life and to bring others to Him. :) Philippians 1:20-21 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14. Praise God for salvation and His enduring Promises shown through Anna!

Kris, I can not imagine how it must feel to lose a child and the shock of an unexpected death. I am sure she was an exceptional young lady as you and Pam were when I worked with you. May God strength you and comfort you.

I am so sorry to hear about Anna passing away. She was a complete joy to work with. She was in my College Writing and Research class last Spring; I enjoyed working with her so much that I hired her in the Reading and Learning Center. :) She helped many students in the Reading and Learning Center. We will miss her very much! She had such a beautiful smile and her joy of life and energy was contagious.
Know that your family is in my prayers.
Let me know if there is anything I can do help.
Peace,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We are so sorry for your loss. Anna was a wonderful person and always seemed to have a smile on her face whenever I saw her. I know your pain is deep and I hope time will ease your pain knowing Anna will be with you always. Heaven is a richer place with her there. I have to believe that Anna was called home for something incredible because she was a very special person with the most amazing attitude. She is a valuable asset to the ultimate team.
I am saddened that she had to leave so soon but have faith that she will be guiding and watching over all of you when you need it most.
She was loved by so many and will be missed tremendously. May God bless and help you through this most difficult time.

I am very sorry for your loss of Anna. Although I never knew her personally, as a member of the PMB, I saw her very frequently in the marching band. I am also a sophomore and I remember her during our first band practice. I always admired her for her posture with the trombone and her marching skills; for some reason, I think she had the essence of a trumpet player. She was very dedicated to the band, as we all are, and I could tell she enjoyed playing and participating with her friends and other members in the band. I saw her hanging out with people a lot of the time. This last fall, I even walked over to the band banquet with Anna and a few of her friends. We all chatted about how cold it was to walk across campus in November, and in a dress.
Even though I did not know Anna individually, I know that she was a great young woman with a love for life and friendships and will be missed. I offer my deepest sympathies to you and I will continue to pray for you and your family during this troubling time. May you find peace and comfort in the days to come.

From our pep band family to yours please know that you all are in our prayers and thoughts. Anna will always be a bright memory as the beautiful human being that she was with so much to offer in whatever she did. It was with a huge sense of loss that we heard of Anna's passing.
