Wayne “Moon” Mullin, 84, passed away March 18, 2011, at Taylor House Hospice. No services are planned at this time.
Wayne was born November 17, 1926, in Des Moines. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Wayne was a truck driver for American Freight for 20 years before his retirement in 1988.
Wayne is survived by his children, Michael (Mary Alice) Mullin, Victoria (Al) Swanson, Jeff (Tammy) Mullin, Pat (Laura) Mullin, Christine (David) Swenson, John Mullin and Timothy (Mary Jo) Mullin; step-children, Duane (Kathy) Sabin and Melinda (Joe) Green; sister, Betty Reames; 28 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVonne Mullin and daughter-in-law, Connie Mullin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Taylor House Hospice.

Jeff, Tammy, Mikey, Pat, Johnny, Tim and family,
We send our condolences to you and your families, for the loss of Moon. Know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. Im sure time has started some of its healing process, knowing that the loss of your familys patriarch can never be replaced fully by time. Take heart in the fact that he is in a much grander place, living free of the pains that this life can put on us; I hope that those thoughts will help ease your minds.

My condolences to the Mullin family. My family (parents Ann and Harry Davis, brother Tom and sisters Pam and Barb) lived on State Street from 1945 until we kids married and my folks retired. I'll always remember "Mr & Mrs Moon" as we called them, for being so nice and patient with all the kids in the neighborhood. My best friend Sandy (Farrell) Miller lived next door so I spent a lot of time there playing in the drive and riding our bikes and there was always a wave and a "be carefull" as we took off down the street.
As I have gotten older I've come to realize and appreciate that what your Dad and others of their time were Gentlemen and Gentlewomen who looked out for others.
Again, my thoughts are with you.

Dear Jeff,Tammy and Mullin family,
We are so very glad with your family that like us, your father has been released from the bonds of his illness to be with loved ones on the other side of our being in paradise. We have no doubt that Wayne is experiencing a level of peace and utter joy that he had well earned after his journey with all of your family and friends in this current state of our mortality. Not having his constant physical companionship is but a temporary yet essential part of his eternal progression as well as your own. God's plan is perfect in every detail and we have our faith,our personal testimonies, memories, and the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost to reaffirm that He lives and loves us very much! As the apostle John recorded, "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever." John 14:16
Unseen yes, but certainly not unfelt, we have many with us daily to make the journey with us. We started our eternal journey together and we shall all finish it together as well. May our Heavenly Father richly bless you and your family with a sustaining peace and calm that those who walk with God know of and can rely upon throughout the eternities.In the name of Jesus Christ,Amen.
