Georgia Moore

Georgia Moore, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior March 18, 2011, at Calvin Community.

Georgia was born September 24, 1923. She, along with her late husband Ralph, owned Jones Oil Company in Truro, Iowa until her retirement in 1993. Georgia was a member of Truro United Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing and quilting.

Georgia is survived by her children, James (Faye) Jones, Janet (Roger Sutton) Thornburg and Sandra (Gary) Baker; step-daughter, Betty (Pat Warner) Moore; siblings, Guy (Louella) Hess, Lois Warren, George Hess, Mary Siefkas, Mack (Sharon) Hess and Leonard (Nancy) Hess; grandchildren, Greg, Melissa, Doug, Brian, Sherry and Hope; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James “Ralph” Jones; second husband, Charles Moore, Sr.; parents, Guy and Orrella Hess; Step-son, Charles Moore, Jr.; step-daughter, Anna Moore; and several siblings.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Truro United Church of Christ, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Young Cemetery in Truro.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Truro Public Library in loving memory of Georgia.
