Mary Joan Frantz, 76, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was born April 21, 1934, to Sylvester and Enid Blubaugh, and grew up in Weldon, Ia.
Joan was active in the Saylorville Garden Club for 30 years. She enjoyed gardening and art.
Joan is survived by her husband, Robert; children, David (Marlene) Frantz, Brenda (Don) Frank, Joyce (Don) Gray, Gary Frantz, James (Louise) Frantz, and Steven (Roberta) Frantz; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; brother, Gene Blubaugh; and sister, Judy Maly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Diane Marie.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, March 21, 2011, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Ridgedale Cemetery in Johnston. Family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. rosary on Sunday, March 20, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.

Dave, Marlene and family,
