Norman Miller, 83, passed away peacefully March 17, 2011 at Wesley Acres.

Norman was born September 19, 1927, in Macedonia, Iowa, to Evan and Fern Miller. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Norman was a graduate of Simpson College and the University of Iowa. He was a physical therapist, working mainly with disabled children for the Polk County Easter Seal Society, where he worked as interim director, and Heartland Area Education Association. Norman was a member of Alpha Tau Omega, Kiwanis, Lions Club, and was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Norman is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara; son, Bruce (Maria) Miller of Iowa City, IA; daughter, Laurie Miller of New York City, NY; grandsons, Nathan (Jamie) Miller of Madison, WI, and Braden Miller of Cedar Rapids, IA; granddaughter, Alecia Miller of Iowa City, IA; great-granddaughter, Felise Miller of Madison, WI; and brother, Robert (Blanche) Miller of Havre, MT.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2011, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3600 75th Street in Urbandale, followed by burial at McDivitt Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at the church, with the family present.

Memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church or Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Acres.
