Gertrude (Trudy) Peterson 89, passed away at Mercy Hospice on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. She lived in Des Moines all her life and was married to Charles for 47 years.
She is survived by one brother, William Haines; three children, Mike (Carol) Peterson, Jane (Dan) Swinehart, and Brad (Nancey) Peterson.
There are five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She will be missed daily by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Trudy was my first secretary when I worked at 1800 Grand. She was wonderful to me and helped me get started. We remined friends until she could no longer visit with me. It was wonderful to see all you family members Friday. She loved her family and always told me about the grandchildren. Remember the good days. I will be sending money to Hospice at Johnston in her memory. Hope to see you again but in a different circumstances.
