Chester Ruby

Chester G. “Skip” Ruby, Jr., 82, was born June 7, 1928, in Des Moines, the son of Chester and Ida Belle (Smith) Ruby. He passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, March 10, 2011.
Skip was a warehouseman at Acri Wholesale for over 23 years and a member of the Teamsters Retirees. He enjoyed coaching little league for 15 years and was proud to be known as the “very best sports fan” at Saydel High School sporting events.
Skip is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gloryne Ruby; sons, Robert (Coni) Ruby, Jack (Nancy) Ruby and Michael Ruby; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Ruby; six siblings and his parents.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Skip.

sorry to hear that uncle skip is gone but he went home to a beautiful place and he will be dearly missed but we will always know that he with us in our hearts and gone home to be with god and with all the others that went home to be god

So sorry for your loss. Jack, your dad was a good man. I remember him taking Joe and I home one cold night when our vehicle broke down at Country Kitchen. I know you all will miss him terribly. Take care.
