Darold Blauer, 87, passed away March 9, 2011, at Fleur Heights Care Center. He was born August 5, 1923, in Oelwein, Iowa, to John and Elizabeth Blauer. Darold owned and operated Blauer’s Resort for many years.
Darold is survived by his sons, Larry (Sherry) Blauer and John (Cindy) Blauer; sister, Ione Lawson; brother, Les Bowen; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary on March 1, 2011, and his brother, Virgil Bowen.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

To the family members of Darold and Rosemary Blauer:
Losing two loved ones within such a short period is a tough pill to swallow. Like his wife before him, Darold leaves us with great memories of a fun, loving man who lived his life to the fullest. Larry and John, you now each have a legitimate chance of being known as the Midwest's greatest Cribbage player...........Darold and Rosemary lived their lives together like two peas in a pod, and now they can rest together in our hearts and memories. Love to all of you, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
