Ruth was the middle of three children born to Guy L. and Reva F. Evans of Centerville, Iowa. She was born on September 21, 1934, and attended school in the Centerville Community School District. Following graduation from Centerville High School in 1952, Ruth entered Mercy Nursing School in Des Moines and graduated as an R.N. in 1955. Ruth was employed as an R.N. for five years working in the delivery room, as a surgical nurse and as Nursing Arts Instructor at Mercy Nursing School. She left the practice of nursing when her first child was born and devoted herself full-time to serving as wife and mother. When both children were grown and off to school, Ruth returned to active employment as Manager of Craftsman’s Corner, a family mail order and craft business.
Ruth and Wayne Adair were married in 1955. Two children were born to this marriage, Ellen A. Link (Brian) of Coralville, Iowa and Mark E. Adair (Monique) of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, both surviving her. Ruth is also survived by her husband of 55 years, Wayne; four grandchildren, Austin Link, a student at Stanford University, Allison Link, a student at Georgetown University, and Morgan Adair and Mitchell Adair, both students in the Glen Ellyn, Illinois school system.
Ruth was also a devoted grandmother and loved serving as homemaker and host at all times. She was also an avid bike rider, bridge player and always enjoyed travel and was a prolific knitter. Almost all available time was devoted to family and friends and involved one or more of these interests or activities.

Adair Family,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Ruth. I took care of Ruth after her surgery at UIHC. She was a wonderful person and thought so much of her family. She had lots of motivation after her surgery to get better, and I'm so sorry we could not beat the cancer. Thoughts and prayers to you all!
