Barbara Jean Roerig

Barbara Jean Roerig was born October 27, 1930, in Des Moines, and passed peacefully on March 6, 2011. Barb was raised in Des Moines and graduated from East Des Moines High School. She retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture after 30 years of service.

Barbara was one of four children born to the late John and Florence Conroy. She will forever be remembered by her beloved children, Rick (Cindy) Roerig, Steve Roerig, Deb Workman, Kathy (Dave) Dickey, Doug Roerig, and Linda (Kirby) Summers and her treasured ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Conroy; sisters, Katie Endicott, Bev Heitz and grandson, Chad Workman.

Barb loved listening to country western music, playing cards, laughing, being with her family, and tending to her flower garden.

Barb touched the lives of many people with her caring and giving way of life. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday March 9, 2011, at 11 a.m., at St. John’s Catholic Church in Norwalk, IA, with inurnment following at Elm Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family requests all donations be sent to Christ the King Catholic Church.
