Phyllis M. McNerney

Phyllis McNerney, 74, of Des Moines died February 27, 2011, at Kavanagh House on 56th Street. Phyllis was born November 30, 1936, in Des Moines. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1954, and retired from Broadlawns Hospital as a Medical Assistant.

Phyllis is survived by her devoted husband John, who so lovingly cared for her for three years throughout her illness; three sons whom she loved unconditionally: Tommy, Johnny and Markie; her brothers: Tony (Jeri Ann) Calaro and Thomas (Shelia) Fucaloro; and grandchildren: Nathan, Heather, T.J. and Parker.

She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Mary Fucaloro, stepfather Albert Montag, sister Elena Frost, granddaughter Baylee Rae, and nephew Michael Calaro.

Most important to Phyllis were her family, faith and friends.

Words cannot express how much she will be missed by her loving family and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Behrens, Ramona and Staff at John Stoddard. Also, special thank you to Dana and everyone at Hospice of Central Iowa.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2011, 4 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., March 2 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
