Michael Bowlby

Michael W. Bowlby, 63, died Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with burial at Berwick Cemetery in Berwick.

Michael was born June 14, 1947, to Jack Wilber and Elfrieda Louise (Beaty) Bowlby, in Des Moines where he lived for most of his life.

Michael is survived by his sister, Julie Ann (John) Miller of Escondido, CA; niece, Shawn Elizabeth (Michael) Mowad and their children Ryan and Ian Mowad; and his loving caregiver, Harriet Johnson. Harriet shared her life and family with Michael for 18 happy years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tammy Louise Van Zuilen; and grandparents, Jess and Margaret Voshell and Harold and Helene Bowlby.

Memorial contributions may be given to PASSAGEWAY, 305 15th Street, Des Moines, 50309-3407, in loving memory of Michael. It is a wonderful facility that encourages people with mental illness so that they can make a difference.
