Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples-when they see the love you have for each other. John 13:33-35 (Message Bible)

The compassion that Jesus called us to in the Gospel of John was alive and well in the heart of Jeanetha Elaine Bailey. She truly cared about and loved others. Jeanetha was eager to be there for family and friends, she was an encourager and knew how to share a positive word to lift your spirit. More than her own life, she loved and valued her family. She served her family well and she took her role as mother, daughter, sister and wife very seriously.

Born on June 2, 1967, in Des Moines, Iowa, Jeanetha was an only child of John and Alta Mae for the first decade of her life. Yet she quickly embraced the gift of being an older sister when her brother John was born. Jeanetha was the one to seek the peace and to accommodate others. She appreciated the strong work ethic of her father and the commitment to family shown by her mother. Jeanetha graduated from Hoover High School in Des Moines, and a few years later married Willie Bailey and subsequently moved to Seattle, Washington. Once in Washington, Jeanetha pursued her education at a local business college and she and Willie began to raise a family. After 23 years of marriage, their family includes three sons (Debin, Demison, and Richmond), two step children (Jayme and Tandra Bailey), three step grandchildren and one more on the way. Jeanetha’s extended family is numerous and she is preceded in death by a sister (Personna), maternal grandparents (Oscar and Erna Mae Johnson) and paternal grandparents (John Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Tolson). She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, sons, parents and extended family.

Jeanetha will truly be missed, her bright and genuine smile was known to light up any room. As she fought for a good education for her sons, she was just as committed to the wellbeing of all children. In addition to being self-employed through Avon, Jeanetha worked for Seattle Children’s Hospital and had written two unpublished children’s books.
