Service Details
Ray Larson, 84, of Des Moines died on Saturday, February 19th at Fleur Heights Care Center. He retired in 1989 as Warehouse Manager for Pure Dry Ice Co. Ray was a US Army Veteran.
Services will be on Thursday, February 24th, at Southtown Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m., with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. A viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. to service time on Thursday.
Ray is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his daughter, Marcia (Russ) Smith; sons, Al
(Pam Kuhns), Bryan and Larry (Linda) Stumbo; sister, Anna Mae (Carl) Benke; brother, Jim (Clara); 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Iowa Hospice.

First of all we ALL want to tell you how sorry we are about the passing of your beloved father, grandfather and husband Ray. Don't ever forget ALL
the memories you all have and what a great Dad and Grandpa and Husband he
was to each and every one of you throughout his lifetime! Remember a
picture paints a thousand words and you never forget all the fun times each
of you shared with such a wonderful person as Ray was!
We ALL remember him so well when him and your mother (Arlene's sister Dee) were married years ago and welcomed (3) children into their life. When your Dad & Mom and all (3) of you children came down to Grandma & Grandpa Graff's house to visit, we had such fun and I know myself (Diane) I remember enjoying my (3) cousins from Des Moines and looking forward to your visits to Grinnell and our visits to Des Moines to see all of you! We sure have alot of memories that I am sure mean alot to all of us!
MARCIA I was so happy that you were one of my bridal attendants in my wedding back in 1969 and I was so happy to be in your wedding too. And to get pics
and a Christmas card each year from each other to hear and see how our
families were doing. I really enjoy that and I know Arlene (my mom) does
too!
ALAN we were so happy to see you at my daughter Kim's wedding in 1999 and
so glad you came. And we were all happy to meet your significant other too!
BRYAN I don't think I have seen you since Grandma Graff's funeral services
in 1979 but we still have thoughts about you alot through the years. And we
have always hoped your life was going just as you wanted it to.
Speaking for myself (Diane), I know that alot of years have passed us ALL and we havent seen each other for so many years but I think all of us have thought about all of you and about your Dad so much over the years. Just because time passes and we didnt see each other or keep in touch alot through the years, didnt mean we ever forgot any of you or your families. We ALL still love everyone of you!!! And we are still FAMILY no matter what!
Remember that our thoughts, prayers and sympathies to ALL of you and your families and significant others and to Marge, THOSE feelings are always with all of you.
MARGE, we also want you to know that we are thinking of you too in this very sad time of loss for you losing your beloved husband. Such a hard thing to go through but we are all thankful here in Grinnell that you were there with Ray through your journey together and was there for him with support with everything he has went through all these years! I remember you and Ray coming to Arlene's 70th birthday party and that was so nice to see you and visit with both of you. And Ray came to my Dad's funeral services in 1991 and that made
us feel good that he was there for my Mom and our families with his support.
Marge, you were a wonderful wife to Ray!!
We LOVE all of you!!!
And we hope to be able to attend the visitation and services and lend any support you all need from your family in Grinnell, IA.
