Maurice Bush

Maurice C. Bush, 77, died Thursday, February 17, 2011, in Des Moines. He was born March 18, 1933, to Guy and Esther Bush in Argusville, ND.

Maurice served in the Army during the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW. Maurice worked at the Burlington Northern Railroad, and then retired from the USDA as an animal caretaker after 30 years of service.

Maurice enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors as he watched the birds and squirrels. He loved spending time in garden tending to his tomato plants, and was also a fan of NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ilene; children, Gene Bush, Rodney (Teresa) Bush, and Allen Bush; grandchildren, Christina (Keith) Graham, Bobbie Jo Bush, Ashley Brighton, Michael (Amber) Bush, Brooke Bush, and Kellie Long; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin (Jan) Bush; sister, Lois Kozic; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Joseph Guy Bush.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona. Family will greet friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
