Patrick Joseph Smith

Patrick J. Smith, 70 died Friday, February 11, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery. A visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines.

Patrick was born September 17, 1940 in Melrose, Iowa to James and Agnes Smith. He made his career in transportation. Patrick loved horses, horse racing and motor sports.

Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Karen; children, Jeff (Liz), Jill (Greg) Brammer, Kurt (Angela); grandchildren, Mackenzie and CJ Smith, Holly and Kylee Brammer, Abby, Sammy, and Annabelle Smith; his mother-in-law, Mary Scieszinski; his siblings, Phyllis Coleman, Marilyn (Dan) Murphy, Jack Smith, Dorie Grove, Kay (Larry) Shelton, Bill Smith, Linda (Bill) Hannam and Jerri (Rich) Keller. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Agnes Smith; his siblings, Helen Marie McDonough, Ellie Sumner, Sheila Bowers; and father-in-law, Vincent Scieszinski.
