Robert “Bob” Tupper Mable, 86, was born in Binghamton, NY. He died February 10, 2011, at Taylor House Hospice.

Bob’s entire career was in the life insurance industry. He retired as Vice President, Corporate Planning for Equitable of Iowa. He was a member of the United States Power Squadrons and past Commander of The Des Moines Sail and Power Squadron. Bob was the recipient of two Governor’s Volunteer Awards: 1993 services to the state related to boating safety and 2004 for 15 years as Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) volunteer. Bob was a people person, he enjoyed the water, boating, skiing, camping, and woodworking.

Bob’s radiating love will continue to shine through his beloved family. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol; children, Jackie (Russ) Leckband, Jill (Tom) Clark, Skip (Katie) Mable, Betsy (Eric) Peterson, David (Dee) Mable and Leigh (Scott) Wiegel; grandchildren, Jesse (Sarah) Leckband, Levi (Emily) Clark, Raymond Clark, Lauren (Ben) Bewley, Jon and Kourtney Mable, Seth and Sven Peterson, Ryan, Anna and Noah Mable and Carly and Nolan Wiegel; brother, Fred (Marion) Mable and his former wife, Marge Wedge Mable. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Mable.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
