Margaret Seiberling

Margaret M. Seiberling, 93, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines from pneumonia.

Margaret was born October 7, 1917, in Columbia, Missouri, and moved to Des Moines with her husband, James, to help with the farm. After leaving the farm, she raised her two children and then retired from Stockton’s Bakery in Colfax. Margaret was a vivacious woman who continued and loved to work at the Sugar Shack with her son until she was 91 years old.

Margaret was a very active life time member of the Mitchellville United Methodist Church. She belonged to The Circle, helped with the funeral lunches, and used her many talents to help others.

In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling in Colfax, cooking fabulous meals for her family, and crocheting. Margaret spent much of her time at the Mitchellville Senior Center in her later years.

Margaret is survived by her children, Sharon (Dan) Lawson and Duane (Mary) Seiberling; grandchildren, Andrea Weatherly, David (Mary) Lawson, and Jeremy Lawson; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Haleigh, and Dawson; sister, Florence Turner; and many other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Seiberling; and sister, Lillian Swanson.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, February 14, 2011, at Mitchellville United Methodist Church, 200 2nd Street NW, with burial to follow at Mitchellville Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Avenue South.
