Service Details
Millie (Powell) Rock passed from this life on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Mercy Hospice Johnston. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 7601 Fleur Drive. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm. Friday at the funeral home.
Those left to cherish Millie’s memory are her husband of 52 years, James Rock; brother, Don Powell of Des Moines; son, James Rock II (Suzanne); three daughters, Toni Garreton of Portland, OR, Donna Wenzl (Jim) of Johnston and Deborah Schroeder (Kurt) of Saylorville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice Johnston or the American Cancer Society in loving memory of Millie.

So sorry to see Millie's obit in paper. She was my best friend in high school at Lincoln. I "lost" Millie after we both graduated, only wish I had "found" her years ago. We had lots of fun together, she was a very nice person. She will be saddly missed by many people, I'm sure.

Our dear family..
I speak for myself and my siblings when I say how sorry we are. We know and feel your pain..
The world has such few special people in it. Millie was always one to us. She loved without judgement and what a blessing that was for me and others. She loved our uncle beyond words.. And she raised children who reached out to us when we too were sharing this pain your heart feels now.. It would take days to express every one of what she shared while she was with us.. I know you all will carry on her traits and that makes our world a much better place in which to live...
