Jennifer Colleen O’Connor, 35, passed away February 6, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Jennifer was born December 21, 1975, in Des Moines to Jerry and Marilyn O’Connor. She recently received her degree from DMACC in Early Childhood Education. Jennifer loved spending time with her children.
Jennifer is survived by her children, Quentin, Bryce and Olivia; parents, Jerry and Marilyn O’Connor; brother, Patrick O’Connor; step-sister, Cheryl Ann O’Connor; and a host of other extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Donald and Pauline O’Connor and Harold and Ruth Demmel; uncle, Gary Demmel; and her cousin, Jeffery Decker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 S.E. Sharon Drive in Ankeny. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to her family for her children’s education funds, St. Paul Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.

It is so hard to believe that Jennifer is gone. She was a fighter--that cancer is a terrible disease. I never saw Jennifer "down". She was a dreamer and an eternal optimist. I always left a conversation with her with a smile on my face. We send our deepest sympathy to the children and to you, Jerry and Marilyn and Pat. God hold you today and always.

Jen spoke highly of her kids, her ambition to be a teacher, and was always there with a smile for my kids. Great conversation and energy to share! I know her children will have many great memories of their mom. Blessings, strength and peace to them all.

The news was shocking to learn of Jennifer's departure. I use to work with Jennifer at the Medicare office. We reconnected on Facebook. I will miss chatting with Jennifer on Facebook. My prayers go out to the family.

I know words can not heal your pain. Jennifer was a great woman and I am truely fortunate to of had the chance to work with her and her family. I learned so much from her, through her strength and determination. She was the most inspiring woman that I have ever had the chance to meet. She will be dearly missed by everyone she has ever touched.
I pray for strength and healing for her family. May GOD's arms wrap you in comfort and may Jennifer's smile warm your heart.

the one thing that stood out was that the LOVE she had for her children she spoke of them all of the time...I had never met them but knew they were her life and love....another thing was her laugh,loud and cheerful and tell it how it was attitude lol ,she was a very likeable person and will truely be missed by many... ( your tanning buddies will miss you deeply)

I just cannot believe that I am sitting here typing out a condolence letter for you. I met you only 2 years ago and feel as if we knew each other much longer than that. You were the friendly smiling face that I needed after we moved to town. You had such a kind, warm, & friendly heart. You will truely be missed. We will all help with the children whenever it may be needed. They have a very special angel now to watch over them for the rest of their lives. God Bless you Jennifer!

There are no words that can express the loss you are experiencing. It is so hard to say good-bye so early in life. May you all have the strength, love, and support that you need during this difficult time and over the years to come.
